Why Pennsylvania homeowners choose solar

Three reasons solar pays in SE PA

Eliminate Your PECO Bill

PECO rates are at $0.22/kWh and climbing. A properly sized solar system offsets 80–100% of your bill. Their 1:1 net metering credits you full retail for every kWh you export.

Whole-Home Backup

Battery storage keeps your fridge, lights, internet, and HVAC running through any outage. Solar recharges your battery daily — no generator, no fuel, no noise.

Lock In Your Energy Cost

Solar locks in your electricity cost for 25+ years. Every PECO rate hike makes your savings bigger. Plus you'll earn $250–$350/year in PA SREC income.

What our customers say

Verified Google reviews

Mike is amazing. Knowledgeable, responsive, with customizable solar systems and all details discussed quickly and synchronously over the phone so you get the big picture and all the small pictures in one 20-minute conversation. We were able to maximize roof space to get 109% energy production in our final proposal, and Mike walked us through all the details of how best to set up our PECO account and get credit for the extra energy production. I loved working with Mike on our house's solar project and would 100% recommend Pennstar Solar to anyone.

Mike and Pennstar were fantastic to work with. He created a detailed plan that gave us everything we needed to make a decision, came out and answered all our questions, helped us setup and handled all the permit/inspection/utility administration. We've been very pleased with our setup so far and Mike continues to be responsive if we have questions.

Mike is one of a kind. I work in solar for commercial and utility scale and it is fascinating to see the difference between that and residential. Mike was able to hear what I wanted to do and guide me to the best option that I didn't even know existed. I also had a more boutique setup and he was not only unphased by it but genuinely excited and helpful to make it work. Could not recommend him enough. A true gem of combining professionalism and craftiness with a true love of solar.

Common questions

How much does a solar system cost in Southeastern PA?+

Solar systems typically range from $2.50–$3.00 per watt installed. A typical 10 kW system runs $25,000–$30,000 before any financing. Battery backup adds about $15,000+ depending on the system. Every home is different — we'll give you an itemized quote based on your roof, your bill, and your goals. No surprises.

What's the payback period?+

Most homeowners in our service area see an 8–10 year payback, with 15–20+ years of savings after that. PECO's 1:1 net metering and PA SREC income accelerate the math considerably.

Do I need to pay anything upfront?+

No. We offer 100% financing with $0 down. Most customers pay less per month for their solar loan than they were paying PECO — and once it's paid off, your electricity is essentially free for the rest of the system's life.

What happens during a power outage?+

With battery backup (Tesla Powerwall, Sigenergy, Enphase, or FranklinWH), your home keeps running automatically — no switching, no generator, no noise. Your solar continues to recharge the battery during the day, so you can ride out multi-day outages.

How long does installation take?+

From contract signing to grid connection is typically 6–10 weeks. Most of that is permitting and PECO's interconnection process. The actual install on your roof is usually 1–2 days.

Every month you wait, PECO costs you more.

PECO's 12.5% rate hike takes effect January 2027. Lock in today's solar pricing and start saving immediately.
